Every foreign tourist is required to issue an Inner Line Permit before they enter Sikkim.
The touring agency can offer assistance for arranging the permit.
The permit is issued from the Sikkim Tourism Offices situated in –
New Delhi
Siliguri
Rangpo
Darjeeling
Documents required to issue the Inner Line Permit are –
Passport Photocopies
Visa Photocopies
Passport Sized Photos (2)
The validity of the Inner Line Permit is 30 days.
The tourists can extend the validity of their permits to additional 30 days.
The permission for extension of validity can be obtained from –
FRO, Gangtok
North District's Superintendent's Office
West District's Superintendent's Office
South District's Superintendent's Office
Both Indian Nationals and Foreign Tourists are required to issue the Protected Area Permit (PAP) to access the inner protected areas of Sikkim apart from the common sightseeing areas for trekking expeditions.
To issue the PAP, the request is accepted only of the request is made by a group of minimum two people.
The PAP is issued only if the permit is required for trekking expeditions arranged by registered touring agencies.
