The western district of Sikkim is highly popular with the trekkers since it has regions with fairly impressive altitude that are ideal for exploring and watching the Himalayas from a close vicinity. Pemayangtse Monastery

Pemayangtse means the "Sublime Lotus". This three-story monastery is home to some of the priceless Buddhist relics like original manuscripts, cookeries and more. The monastery is drenched in traditional colors and oriental architecture, that lends a deeply spiritual feel to the atmosphere, and is a must visit.

Khecheopalri Lake

This holy lake is known to be wish-fulfilling, and is visited by couples who arrive to receive fertility blessings from the presiding deity. The lake is a protected area, and the incoming tourists are not allowed to litter or bathe in the lake. The surrounding birds never let a stray leaf float on the surface of the water. They pick up the litter themselves.

Rabdentse Ruins

You will discover the remnants of what was the capital city of monarchial Sikkim under the rule of the Chogyals. Rabdentse was the capital city which was destroyed by the invading Gurkha soldiers in the 17th century. The archaeological remains are interesting to explore and are maintained in an excellent condition.

Kanchenjunga Waterfalls

Pelling

One of the most popular touring destinations in Sikkim, it is situated at an altitude of 7,200 feet, merely ten kilometers away from Gyalshing. On account of its favorable altitude, Pelling offers an extremely panoramic view of Mount Kanchenjunga. It is one of the most scenic off beat locations to explore in the entirely of Sikkim.
